Indigenous Biennale Àbadakone : Continuous Fire
Venessa assisted the National Gallery’s curatorial team in conducting biographical and provenance research as well as writing curatorial copy for the exhibition space and printed catalogues for its international indigenous Biennale Àbadakone : Continuous Fire.
Àbadakone showcased the artistic contributions of over 70 contemporary Indigenous artists, representing nearly 40 distinct Indigenous nations, ethnic backgrounds, and tribal connections across 16 different countries. Through its exploration of themes like continuity, activation, and interconnectedness, Àbadakone delves into the ingenuity, issues, and liveliness of Indigenous art, spanning across nearly every continent.
