La Gestuelle du Songe emerges from continuous exchange with ibiyanε, a propulsive and generative rhythm that pulses through our shared and respective practices.
Since Elodie Dérond and Tania Doumbe Fines created their six inaugural pieces for my first exhibition and publication, Black Experience isn’t a Spectacle (2020), ibiyanε has been deeply tied to the spoken and written word. Each creation is an insertion of archives. Research and poetry in form; each curve, a whispered memory.
Through the sacred act of connection — with oneself, with others, with the land, or with the divine — ibiyanε; meaning “to know one another”, becomes a praxis rooted in comprehension, reverence, and the transformation of a future we dare to dream.
Materiality:
Prepress and Xerox printing on vellum, metallic and linen papers.
Saddle stitch sewn binding with Japanese wood veneer covers.

This selection of writings gathers the resonances of the exchange between ibiyanε and Afi, held in Paris on June 13, 2025, as part of Fun Palace: How to Live Together at the Grand Palais, in light of the Centre Pompidou’s recent acquisition of the Alè series (2021) [elombe 011, 012, 013].
